Distal pacemaker lead fracture: a rare entity.
DESCRIPTION An 87-year-old woman from a nursing homewith a history of ventricular rate responsive demand (VVIR)Microny II SR (St. JudeMedical AB, Järfälla, Sweden) pacemaker insertion for syncope with complete heart block in 2003 was admitted following an episode of loss of consciousness. متن کاملPacemaker lead endocarditis with hiccups (Kalayci)
Background: Lead-related infections that might develop after pacemaker implantation associated with high mortality and morbidity rates are challenging to manage and pose high-cost. Patients with lead-related infections usually present with fever, chills and fatigue and the treatment can be challenging unless the implant system is extracted. Case presentation: A 66-year old male patient who und...
متن کاملPatient- and lead-related factors affecting lead fracture in children with transvenous permanent pacemaker.
AIMS Fracture in transvenous pacing leads is one of the most common reasons for lead abandonment. Although the factors affecting lead failure rates have been investigated, there is no study evaluating the clinical parameters that affect lead fracture in children. We report our experience with lead fracture in children with transvenous pacemakers. METHODS AND RESULTS The follow-up results of 2...
متن کاملSubclavian crush syndrome: a cause of pacemaker lead fracture.
A 48-year-old male with a symptomatic 2:1 atrio-ventricular block and a dual-chamber pacemaker, implanted one year previously, was admitted due to a syncopal episode. Pacemaker malfunction was identified as the cause of syncope. Subclavian crush syndrome was the cause of the pacemaker malfunction. Its incidence, consequences and management are discussed in this report.
متن کاملCentral venous catheter fracture during pacemaker lead extraction
Introduction In this case report, we present an unusual and potentially lifethreatening complication of cardiac electronic device lead extraction during which a peripherally inserted central venous catheter (CVC) coursing ipsilaterally to the pacemaker leads was fractured with the use of mechanical extraction tools. Subsequently, a fragment of this catheter embolized distally into the right atr...
